Timmins and District Hospital is a 153-bed district hospital serving a local population of 41,000 and a catchment area of 110,000. Timmins is located in Northeastern Ontario, built upon a gold mining heritage. Our Hospital provides an array of acute, post-acute, outpatient, diagnostic, and specialist services including a 6-bed ICU, hospitalist program, stroke team, internal medicine, general surgery, ortho, OBS/Gyne, mental health, ENT, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics and Urology.
Department Description:
The Emergency Department sees an average of 98-120 patients per day and 38,000 visits annually. As a district hospital, we offer a comprehensive community practice with access to most major specialties and imaging modalities such as MRI, CT and Nuclear Medicine.
Schedule and Compensation:
Competitive compensation is a combination of AFA and FFS. Back-up support in the ED with a Physician Assistant. The ED is staffed up to 5 shifts per day with double coverage for 16 hours per day. Locums are provided with a fair mix of shifts. Number of locum days per visit negotiable.
Qualitifications:
Applicant must be licensed in the province of Ontario with a full independent practice license. CCFP(EM) preferred but CCFP plus experience will be considered. Certification in ACLS and ATLS required. Locums funded through HFO's GP Vacancy program. Flight, hotel and car rental and elibible expenses are reimbursed.
