Serving the Northeast Region of Ontario, the Service of Forensic Psychiatry is seeking a Psychiatrist to join its team providing psychiatric care to adults with serious mental illness who have been found Unfit to Stand Trial or Not Criminally Responsible. There will be opportunity to provide court assessments and all patient care is delivered using an interprofessional collaborative team approach. Our service includes an assessment and stabilization unit, rehabilitation and specialized transition to community units, a specialized treatment unit for women and community outreach services. The organization is an affiliated academic teaching centre with the NOSM University. The preferred candidate will be expected to participate in teaching undergraduates and postgraduate medical learners.
Qualifications
Applicants are required to be certified in Psychiatry by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or the equivalent in another jurisdiction) and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario. Previous experience in Forensic Psychiatry will be considered an asset but is not essential.

Remuneration
This position will be remunerated through a combination of fee-for-service billings, a lucrative Northern Specialist Alternative Payment Plan, & Hospital On-Call stipends. In addition, NBRHC has a competitive Incentive Package which includes a $25,000 recruitment stipend, $25,000 practice start up grant, assistance with relocation expenses, and $83,000 via the Northern Rural Recruitment & Retention Initiative.
