Primary Care Family Physicians Start date is flexible. Family Physicians interested in Office/Clinic, ER, Anaesthesia, Obstetrics, LTC; any scope of practice blend are welcome. Fort Frances currently has 10 Family Physicians (2 FPA's), 1 General Surgeon and 3 Nurse Practitioners.
Fort Frances Physician Group and Fort Frances Community Clinic are very flexible with office hours 8:30 am - 4:00 pm Monday to Friday. Patient volumes and schedule is at the discretion of the Family Physician. If you choose to provide ER services, the Emergency Department, located at La Verendrye Hospital (Riverside Health Care), has approximately 17,000 visits per year. The call shared by local physicians and locums approximately 1-in-8, level 3 ED-AFA. ER pay rate is $250/hr plus covid premium $73 during holidays Dec 22-27, all other dates the rate is $173/hr, plus covid premium of $73 paid through AFA, covid premium is scheduled to end March 2023. Call pay for Anesthesia/FPA is $1000 per 24 hr call (normally 7 days beginning 8:00am Monday to Monday).
Fort Frances Community Clinic is paid through FHO as part of the Family Health Team. Fort Frances Physician Group practices at the Fort Frances Community Clinic. Excellent earning potential, low overhead, collegial support, reasonable call.
The Fort Frances Recruitment and Retention Committee offers available Community Incentive for two to five year return of service (ROS) dispersed quarterly, $10,000 in moving expenses reimbursed and a Lifestyle Package that includes memberships of choice; golf, gym, pool, local entertainment and marina. HFO offers, to qualifying family physicians, the Northern Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (NRRRI), providing $115,600 over four years. The initiative is provided to qualifying physicians on a yearly basis, 40% first year, 15% second year, 15% third year and 30% fourth year. We have affiliation with Northern Ontario School of Medicine, third year clerkship students (2) are in Fort Frances from September - April. Residents for 1-2 month rotations. Fort Frances Local Education Group (FFLEG) offers generous CME support and payment for teaching.
Fort Frances has approximately 8,000 residents. The FF Community Clinic, La Verendrye Hospital and Riverside Health Care serve a catchment area of approximately 18,000. Adjacent to Fort Frances is International Falls, MN, a community approximately same size as Fort Frances. We have excellent access to international airports from either Fort Frances or International Falls.
