Dryden Regional Health Centre (DRHC) is looking for a full-time General Surgeon to join our rural healthcare team. Locum opportunities are also available. New grads are welcome!
Hospital Facility:
DRHC is a 42-bed rural health centre in Northwestern Ontario, including a 3-bed CCU, 24/7 Emergency Department, and 2 modern OR theatres with 1 fully integrated MIS suite. We have a regionally-integrated EMR (Meditech, current development towards adopting Meditech Expanse), on-site diagnostic imaging (CT, ultrasound, x-ray), laboratory services, and nearby pathology (Kenora).
We have over 300 staff, including an established group of physicians with a mix of young and experienced doctors. One local Family Physician with Extended Class Certification provides C-Section coverage. Two local GP/Anesthetists provide excellent support for the Surgical Services Programs at the DRHC.
DRHC is conveniently located on the same grounds as the Dingwall Medical Clinic and Dryden Area Family Health Team, making collaborative care a breeze. DRHC also hosts a Specialty Clinic that brings in visiting specialists year-round, supporting quality healthcare closer to home. This includes Orthopedic Surgery (knee, hip, spine), ENT, Plastics, Obstetrics, Gynecology, Rheumatology, Urology, Pediatrics, and Psychiatry.
DRHC is a fully accredited facility, receiving Accreditation with Exemplary Standing in 2023. The facility is regularly expanding services and acquiring state-of-the-art equipment to offer quality healthcare close to home.
Surgical Services:
Common procedures for our General Surgeons include GI, bowel re-section, hernias, skin, and soft tissue surgery. GI endoscopy is an essential service and advanced skills in minimal access surgery are welcome. One local Family Physician with Extended Class Certification provides C-Section coverage. General Surgeons at DRHC are part of a local Regional Surgery Network APP with on-call support.
The Chief of Surgical Services in Dryden is Dr. Izabela Apriasz. All practice specific questions can be directed to Dr. Apriasz at izabela.apriasz@gmail.com.
