Health PEI is seeking full time permanent Hospitalist physicians located at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, beginning immediately.
Hospitalists provide comprehensive inpatient care for unaffiliated patients, including admission history and physical examination, daily medical management, participation in multidisciplinary rounds and family conferences as needed, and discharge planning. Other duties that the QEH hospitalist physician group provides includes "stand by" coverage in the event of high patient census, and acute and targeted outpatient follow up of recently discharged hospitalist inpatients at the hospitalist post discharge clinic.
Located in Prince Edward Island’s charming capital city,
Charlottetown, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, a 243-bed provincial referral facility, is operated by
Health PEI, a crown corporation responsible for the delivery of publicly funded health services in Prince Edward Island.
Remuneration:
Remuneration is a daily Hospitalist sessional fee and premiums for after hours and weekend work based on the
Master Agreement.

Hours of Work:
The Hospitalist service runs a 7-day rotation with 2 Hospitalists per line of up to 17 inpatients – each physician working alternate weeks. Each full-time Hospitalist generally works one week on/one week off.
Incentives:
- Eligible moving expense reimbursements are available.
- Opportunity to teach with the PEI Residency Training Program with faculty appointment at Dalhousie University.
- Electronic patient record system (hospital-based) with access to lab and x-ray reports from office.
- Other incentives as per the Master Agreement.
