Job DescriptionThe NBRHC Service of Pediatrics is a collegial and innovative service looking for a full or part time Community Consultant Pediatrician to join its team of 5 dedicated Pediatricians. As a designated Level IIC community based hospital, the service manages an 8 bed NICU, 6 bed Pediatrics ward and 6 bed Regional Child and Adolescent Psychiatry service. NICU responsibilities include attendance at high risk deliveries, care of unwell term newborns and care of preterm babies of 30 weeks gestation and higher. Pediatric responsibilities include inpatient care of medically unwell children and urgent consultation to the Emergency Departments and Family Physicians in the region. Child and Adolescent Mental Health responsibilities include consultation, assessment and admission and care of medical issues in children/youth admitted to the mental health service. The successful candidate will participate equitably in the Pediatric on-call roster.
The successful candidate will also be invited to join the North Bay Pediatric Group outpatient Consultant Pediatric Practice located minutes from the hospital, fully operational with PS Suite EMR and co-located with the community children's treatment center.
Applicants are required to be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario. The organization is an affiliated academic teaching centre with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM). The preferred candidate would be expected to participate in teaching undergraduates and postgraduate medical learners.
RemunerationThe successful candidate will be remunerated as a part of the Northern Pediatric AFP which includes a base salary and a percentage of billings top up, Hospital On-Call stipends, teaching funds, pediatric stabilization funds and payment for CAMHU coverage. Our organization has a competitive Incentive Package which includes a $25,000 non-repayable and interest free loan, assistance with moving expenses and up to $83,000 through the Northern Rural Recruitment & Retention Initiative (NRRRI).
