DEPARTMENT: EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
POSITION: ONE (1) PERMANENT FULL TIME REGISTERED NURSE
SITE: NBRHC – NORTH BAY
HOURS: ALL SHIFTS AS REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
  • Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario required
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate (within 1 year) required
  • Current Advanced Cardiac life Support (ACLS) Certificate (within 2 years) required
  • Current I.V. Therapy certification required
  • Coronary Care Course (min. 25 hrs.) and/or Lead II/12 Lead Interpretation Course (min. 25 hrs.) required
  • Minimum 2 years experience working on a Medical or Surgical Unit required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent (within past 2-3 years) Emergency experience required
  • Canadian Triage & Acuity Scale (CTAS) Certification an asset
  • Courses in: Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Emergency Nursing Certification preferred
  • Must have or be able to obtain certification of added nursing skills and delegated medical acts specific to Emergency by the end of orientation period:
  • Cardioversion/defibrillation  Application of external pacemaker
  • Experience in Mental Health Nursing an asset
  • Must be able to function both independently and as an active member of the multi-disciplinary team in caring for all levels of patient acuity required
  • Must be involved in continuing education on an annual basis and demonstrate commitment to quality improvement required
  • Good attendance and work record required
  • Computer application experience required
  • Demonstrated ability to assume Unit Leader role preferred
  • Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
  • Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization  Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
